Eastwoodhill Arboretum

"Garden of National Significance" 35km from Gisborne this unique forest and garden contains New Zealand's largest collection of Northern Hemisphere trees and shrubs set among 100 hectares of hills, valleys and ponds with a network of easy walking tracks. Gisborne Botanical Gardens

The Gisborne Botanical Gardens are nestled on the banks of the Taruheru River. This 5+ hectare park features trees and ponds, rose and cactus collections, an aviary and a children's playground.

Te Urewera National Park

Established in 1954, Te Urewera National Park is a remote, rugged, immense fore, famous for its lakes and forested beauty as well as its stormy history. Located between the Bay of Plenty and Hawke's Bay, Te Urewera National Park is the third largest national park in New Zealand and includes the largest untouched native forest in the North Island.

Activities in the park include hiking, fishing, boating, hunting and birdwatching.
